Over 100 voices of Victoria Chorale and Melbourne Chamber Choir will sing Brahms’ Requiem with the Art of Sound Orchestra, conducted by Mario Dobernig. This magnificent work will be performed in the wonderful setting of St Paul’s Cathedral with the superb soloists Jacqueline Porter (soprano) and James Clayton (baritone). Brahms’ Requiem is a hymn to life, filled with exquisitely beautiful melodies. Regarded as Brahms’ supreme masterpiece, this is sublime and uplifting music.

Our focus is on the glories of Venice, that rich city with the redoubtable St Mark’s and its tradition of choral music with brass. A professional brass ensemble and one of Melbourne’s finest organists complement the Melbourne Chamber Choir as it presents a chronological overview of Venice’s pivotal composers, showing how the styles changed over the years from Willaert (1490-1562) to Vivaldi (1678-1741), in Melbourne’s oldest and most iconic church.

The glory of voices of the Melbourne Women’s Choir and Australian Girls’ Choir Camerata Choir, Casey Choir, Cloud9 Women’s Choir, Grace Notes Singers, Majellan Singers and Women of Note of Bendigo, in the 10th Voices of Women festival. Variety in beautiful music making.

The essential Christmas story presented by the Melbourne Chamber Choir, orchestra and outstanding soloists, in splendid St Paul’s Cathedral. For four years the Melbourne Chamber Choir has performed the ‘family’ version of Bach’s Christmas Oratorio for the Australian Bach Society. Last year’s success in St Paul’s Cathedral prompted the Bach Society to invite the choir to plumb the depths of the Christmas message anew, with even more potential for the audience to join in some of the chorales.

This sequence of carols, accompanied by harp, will be surrounded by beautiful Christmas songs to enjoy – Maria Walks amid the Thorn – Carter Thou Must Leave Thy Lowly Dwelling – Berlioz, Hallelu – Paulus, A Nativity Carol – Tavener and more. There will be carols for audience participation, to add to the Christmas spirit.
